23th January, 2023 - High Frequency (HF) Radio Telephone Operators Certificate Training hosted by MEIDECC Tonga in partnership with the Regional Emergency Telecommunication Cluster (ETC) - World Food Programme. (WFP)

The Opening of the HF training component was launched today at MEIDECC Head Office by with Remarks from CEO for MEIDECC and Vote of Thanks from Mr. Mitch Clifford from Barret Communication.

This is a training as a part of the final phase of ETC support response to the Tongan volcanic eruption and tsunami event. This is part of the deployment of the emergency communications infrastructure for the High Frequency (HF) emergency radio communications and coordination network.

Day 1 of Training facilitated by Mr. Mitch Clifford.
The training support will be established by the ETC team of 3 resource persons Mr. Mitch Clifford (training facilitator & Barret HF specialist), Ms. Maria Shumusti (ETC Media rep) and Mr. Vineet Prasad(WFP ICT EPR Officer). This team is here to facilitate this 5 days training that involves 8 participants from different Ministries such as,Tonga Fire Emergency Services, Police, Marine Ports Division, MEIDECC - Communication Dept, NEMO and Tonga Meterology.
